Preaching is one area we can and must continue to grow in. Discussions about Biblically driven sermons, study, preparation of mind and heart, prayer, delivery, and the role of the Holy Spirit would be discussed at a very personal level. Pastor Pat would also provide evaluations and personal feedback on your sermons.
Many leaders wish they could understand the Bible like their pastor does! Many wish they could leave their time in the Word with the confidence and conviction of understanding what God is saying in the text! In these sessions you'll learn methods and skills for studying the Bible in which you will not only know what the Bible says, but why you believe that is what it says. This moves you from content to conviction.
Many people struggle understanding how thousands of verses of the Bible fit into one unit and one story. As a result, many ignore the Old Testament because they do not see the relevance of it today. However, the better we understand the Old Testament, the better we will understand the New Testament, the story of Jesus Christ, the prophecies, and the big story of the Bible.
Does your life seem more like you trying hard to live for Jesus or like Jesus living for and through you? The heart of the Christian life is relying upon the indwelling Spirit of Jesus to live through you! A Christian "living by the Spirit" is a matter of trusting the Spirit to do in and through you things you could never do on your own. This is essential for bearing fruit in your ministry and life. We will learn and discuss these issues from the Bible for your personal life and ministry.
